In an uncommonly performed case, Mr. Shinde, who suffered repeated heart attacks, was treated successfully in a complicated procedure at the Bhartiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital. Mr. Shinde who’s son himself is a doctor laid his trust in Dr. Sanjay Rajdev and the cath- lab team comprising Mr. Don, Ali, sister Sonali, Manoj and Dr. Nipa.
Mr. Shinde who complained of chest pain of few hours including rest pain had a near total 99% block in one artery which was easily treated within a few minutes. The next block on the right side of his heart was near 100% and severely calcified. In the process of treating the block conventionally, at least 3 angioplasty balloons ruptured. But then a good investment by the hospital management saved the day!
Thankfully, Bhartiya Arogya Nidhi trustees Rajesh Bhai and Aseem Bhai recently provided us with the state-of-the-art Rotational Atherectomy equipment. It is a specialized device where a small rotating 1 to 2 mm sized burr coated with diamond crystals cuts through the hard calcium in heart vessels. This creates passage for the blood and stents can then be inserted. The procedure was special that despite the use of burr and angioplasty in the middle part of vessel, unrecognized eccentric calcium prevented angioplasty to the distal vessel. Hence a second run of the rotational atherectomy was done quickly leading to good flow in the distal vessel. The procedure took approximately 2 hours and with a satisfactory angioplasty result.

Credit also goes to the ICU team as the patient was admitted to the ICU, the ICU team did an exceptional job in improving the patient substrate, getting transfusions done and arranging a UGI scopy to diagnose possible upper GI pathology. They offered their good service during post-op recovery too.
Most importantly, the hospital and its doctors were able to provide a smile back on Mr. Shinde, who followed up after 10 days and found himself in his elements with happiness all around.
God is indeed kind, and we thank Him for allowing us to heal hearts and execute His will. Hare Krishna!
